The Mojo Daddies at Out to Lunch

Back in 2008 when The Mojo Daddies snagged their first Out to Lunch gig, we felt like the band had "made it to the big time"! Here's a photo montage of the first three years of TMD at Out to Lunch, held most Fridays from June to August at Cook Park in Libertyville, Illinois.

2008: A sunny and hot August day, perfect for a picnic in the park. Vans filled with food and manned by servers from Libertyville restaurants line two sides of the park so visitors can browse the selections and make a fine choice or two. It's a weekly Bring Your Own Blanket/Lawn Chairs/Cash event!

2009: It sprinkled, it rained, it poured, it stopped, it sprinkled some more, but in the end, the weather turned kind of nice and the day is now part of Mojo lore. Those who were there for a minute or for all three hours (you know who you are) agreed that it was well worth it. The band and their wives will be forever grateful.

2010: At last, perfect weather and a fantastic turnout for Out to Lunch (a.k.a. Lunch in the Park). This year, the band hired my brother Bob to sit in as guest drummer. With just two practices together, they all sounded great and the crowd of people loved the music and expressed this by chowing down on many varieties of Libertyville's best eats. (This, by the way, is a surefire sign that the band is fantastic -- if the music is distasteful, people do not stay to taste any food!).
